Woohoo! It's time for our second annual (fancy!) GHIII tournament! Saturday, July 25th from 1-3 PM.
We're playing GHIII on a PS2- if you have your own guitar, you can use it if it works with the PS2.
Double elimination - everyone will get to play twice before we go on to the elimination rounds.
Today we are doing a run-through practice tourney for our big tourney in July!
So, we're having another qualifying Super Smash Bros Brawl tournament. No prizes, just another chance to show off your skills and work on qualifying for the November national team.
We're doing 3 stock, 5 minute matches. Yah, you can bring your own controllers, and yesss, I know that the library needs to buy some Gamecube controllers. I'm working on it, for reals. Sign up, yo! If you have any questions, ask Kellie.
Oh- and we have someone from Aurora coming to watch and see how we do tournaments. Look for more chances to pwn, um, I mean, play, another library soon! Awesome!
to all my awesome players-
thanks so much for making the tournament so successful. i think it was definitely better than last time and all of you have official city-wide rankings now! thanks so much to ninetailshadow and tailsdarkside26fire for helping with controllers and making sure everyone was ready to play. to see where you stand, go here: http://denverlibrary.gtsystem.org/leaderboard/19
you all rocked!
For Teen Tech Week (March 8-14th) we're having a Super Smash Bros. Brawl Tournament! There won't be prizes for this one, but you will be ranked for future matches. Why? Because in November, we're going to take on (and pummel) other libraries in the National Gaming @ your library day tournament. So, like, this is the first step.
The rules: double elimination, ALL items on low, some locations restricted, 2 minute qualifying bouts. Bad sportsmanship and cheating will not be tolerated. If your behavior is unacceptable, YOU WILL BE THROWN OUT OF THE TOURNAMENT! 24 players maximum. Yes, you can bring your own controllers. As of Feb 13th, I'm still trying to figure out a points system that will be fair-- as soon as I know what's going on, I'll let you know.
It's Friday the 13th-- maybe someone can beat our current master! Come see how lucky you really are!
Update: this is the points system:
1st place: 100 points
2nd place: 80 points
3rd place: 60 points
4th place: 50 points
This will allow us to keep statistics better. Sweet!
Welcome to the Denver Public Library's city-wide ranking system! When you create an account, it will keep track of your points in all of our various gaming programs and compare you to participants across the city! To join up and see how you compare, create an account and start participating in our programs! For now this is only happening at the Bear Valley Branch, but stay tuned, other DPL libraries will be joining shortly.
Virtual fisticuffs for glorious prizes! Join us at Bear Valley on Saturday, November 15 from 1-3 pm for a Super Smash Bros. Brawl tournament. Gamecube controllers are welcome. Double elimination. Items on Low. Some levels restricted.
Join us for The Denver Public Library's first Guitar Hero III tournament! There will be gift certificate prizes from Game Stop for 1st Place ($30), 2nd Place ($20), and 3rd Place ($10). All levels are welcome. Event is for grades 5 and up.
We will be playing Guitar Hero III on a PS2. If you have your own (compatible) guitars, you may bring them. Otherwise, guitars will be provided.
